Data You Give Us Directly
Search Queries
A name or location entered in a search tool is sent directly to the outside provider that operates it. The provider processes the query and supplies its results. Josephine County Criminal History does not keep or log those search terms on its own systems.
Messages and Contact Submissions
An email or other direct message may be retained long enough to review it and respond. It remains within the organization unless disclosure is required by a valid legal obligation.
Data We Gather Automatically
When a page loads, the servers may automatically receive standard technical and usage details:
- The IP address assigned to your device
- Which browser you are using and its version
- Your device type and operating system
- The pages you visited and how long you stayed on each
- The site that sent you here, if any
- Timestamps for each page view
Cookies and Analytics
Cookies are small files placed on a device. They help show, in aggregate, which pages draw traffic and where visits end. Analytics services assist with that measurement. A browser can block cookies, although disabling them may change how some site functions behave.
What We Do With This Data
- Route a search query to the selected outside provider
- Maintain reliable site operation and page speed
- Diagnose errors and other technical problems
- Measure which information visitors use most
- Display advertising that may reflect visitor interests
No Criminal-Record Data on File
Josephine County Criminal History does not maintain, assemble, or sell a database of personal criminal records. It publishes general directions to the Josephine County Sheriff's Records Division, Josephine County Circuit Court, Oregon State Police Criminal Justice Information Services, and the Oregon Sex Offender Registry. This site is not a consumer reporting agency under the Fair Credit Reporting Act. Visitor information is not compiled into consumer reports or third-party criminal-record profiles.
Third-Party Search Partners
Outside companies operate the search boxes. Information submitted through a box is governed by that provider's privacy policy, retention rules, and sharing practices rather than this policy. Review those terms before sending a query because this site does not control the provider's processing.
Links to Other Websites
Links may lead to Sheriff pages, Oregon court portals, state agencies, legal resources, or outside search services. Once you leave this site, the destination's privacy terms control the visit. Read them before providing personal information.
Advertising providers may use their own systems to measure activity across websites and select targeted ads. Their tracking is not operated by Josephine County Criminal History.
Who Might See Your Data
Personal data is not sold. It may be disclosed or processed in these limited settings:
- Search partners that handle queries you run on our site
- Analytics services we use to track traffic and performance
- Ad networks that place ads on our pages
- Law enforcement or government bodies when a valid legal order requires it
How We Protect Your Data
Reasonable, commonly used safeguards protect collected information. No internet service can guarantee perfect security, however, so this site cannot promise that unauthorized access or a breach will never occur.
Users Under 18
This website is intended for adults and does not knowingly collect personal information from anyone younger than 18. If such information is identified, a deletion request may be made through the contact route.
Your Data Rights
Rights may vary by residence. Oregon's Unlawful Trade Practices Act, ORS 646.605 through 646.656, and the Oregon Consumer Privacy Act, ORS 646A.570 through 646A.589, may provide additional protections when their requirements apply. A visitor may ask to:
- Ask for a copy of what we have on file about you
- Have us fix information that is wrong
- Request that we erase your data
- Opt out of certain kinds of data processing
Updates to This Policy
This policy may be revised. A replacement takes effect when it is posted here with a new date, so visitors should review the page periodically for changes.
